What is a Land Use Plan?
A Land Use Plan is a tool used for guiding the growth, redevelopment, and overall improvement of a city, town, or county. The plan will serve as the official statement by the Town of Farmville of its vision, intentions, goals, objectives, and strategies for future land use development. This plan will function as the Town's Comprehensive Plan. Topics that will be covered typically include: housing, transportation, parks and natural resources, utilities and public services, design of the public realm, and Downtown Farmville. The final plan will influence future Town policies and decisions, including future rezonings and development design.
Planning Process
The plan was developed in three overlapping phases: initiation & analysis; visioning & development, and implementation & adoption. Community engagement was woven into all three phases of this process. Continued engagement will be vital to the success and longevity of the plan.
